A shareholder's return (ROI)
The "Investment and return" block in the Summary tab of a shareholder's profile compares what they have put into the company with what they have received from it. What was invested comes from the capital increases they subscribed and the shares they bought; what was received, from what they were paid when selling and from dividends. The difference is their realized result.

The essentials. Return in Sttok is a cash calculation: what came out of the shareholder's pocket against what came back to it. It does not include what their shares are worth today, because that is not money received but an estimate.
The calculation#
On the shareholder's profile, "Summary" tab, the "Investment and return" block brings together these figures:
| Figure | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| "Invested" | What they paid for their shares, broken down into "Capital increase", what they subscribed in capital increases including the premium, and "Purchase", what they paid to other shareholders. |
| "Received" | What has come back to them: what they were paid when selling shares and dividend distributions. |
| "Realized result" | What was received minus what was invested. |
| Multiple | How many times they have recovered what they invested: what was received divided by what was invested. |
An example with figures#
Marta joined Sociedad Ejemplo, S.A. by subscribing a capital increase and years later bought a block of shares from another shareholder. Since then she has received three dividends and has not sold anything.
| Capital increase | €50,000 |
| Purchase | €20,000 |
| Invested | €70,000 |
| Dividends received | €12,500 |
| Received | €12,500 |
| Realized result | -€57,500 |
Her multiple is 0.18: she has recovered in cash a little under one fifth of what she put in.
A negative result does not mean Marta has lost money. It means she has not yet recovered in cash what she put in: her shares are still hers and are worth whatever they are worth. For a shareholder who has not sold, it is normal for the result to be negative for years.
And what their shares are worth today#
That is in another block on the same tab, "Valuation". With the "Company value simulator ND" you move the company's valuation and see what their stake would be worth at one valuation or another. It is a simulation, not an appraisal or money received. That is why it is not included in the result.
Frequently asked questions#
Why is my result negative if the company is doing well?
Because the realized result only counts money you have already received. If you have not sold and the company pays few dividends, what you have received is less than what you invested, even if your shares are worth more than you paid.
Do shares I received by inheritance or gift count?
They do not add to what was invested, because you did not pay for them.
Are dividends counted gross or net?
Gross: the amount due to the shareholder before withholding.
The figures do not match my operations. What do I do?
The calculation comes from the recorded operations. Check in the Transactions tab that they are all there and with their amount. If you are a shareholder, let the company know.

- A shareholder's Transactions tab The Transactions tab on a shareholder's profile lists the operations they have taken part in, with their type, date, amount and the shares that came into or left their position, and below that the dividends they have received. It is their part of each operation, not the whole operation.
- See your position in the company Your shareholder profile in Sttok tells you how many shares you hold, what percentage of the company they represent, which class they are and what their numbering is. It also shows what you have invested and received, the operations you have taken part in, the dividends you have received and your documents, such as certificates.
- Register a dividend distribution A dividend distribution is registered from "Add Operation" › "Dividend distribution". It doesn't move any shares: you enter the total amount, decide whether to apply withholding and Sttok splits it among the shareholders according to their percentage. The record shows each one their gross amount, the withholding and what they receive. Unlike other operations, it has no notary details.
